Banco Millennium Atlântico clarifies the sanction applied by the Regulator

Luanda, April 18th of 2023 - Following the incorrect titles used in the news published last Friday, April 14, 2023, in some national and international media, about the sanctions applied by the National Bank of Angola to three commercial banks, including Banco Millennium Atlântico, we would like to clarify the following:

• The sanction applied by the National Bank of Angola to Banco Millennium Atlântico, is in no way related to the violation of money laundering prevention norms, a responsibility with which we have a solid commitment, guided by the fact that our actions are based on continuous investment in technical and human resources to promote best practices in this area and full institutional collaboration.

• As an example of this continuous effort and commitment, Banco Millennium Atlântico received the FATCA certificate in 2022, which confirms the Bank's Compliance programme, attesting that it meets the requirements and procedures that must be observed for the purposes of controlling compliance with the FATCA regime.

• The penalty made public results from the National Bank of Angola's assessment of the treatment given by Banco Millennium Atlântico to a particular customer, in the context of a complaint about the restructuring of a loan in the form of car leasing, which has since been successfully carried out.

The ambition to provide a service of excellence to all its Customers guides the continuous improvement of the processes and services that the Bank is internally committed to.
